Right away we find errors by Matthew. The first is his account of John the baptist. John the baptist came preaching repentance and Matthew 3:2-3 says “Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.” There are a couple of problems with the new testament account of these verses. Let’s turn to the book of Isaiah. Isaiah 40: 1-3 is not a repentance message, but a message of comfort. Furthermore, it is the complete opposite of repentance because Jerusalem has already paid for their sins, in fact, Jerusalem has paid double. Isaiah 40:2 says “Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she has received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.” This is a complete departure from the claim that forgiveness is only found by faith in Christ. According to Christians, if one doesn’t find faith in Christ, that person will go to hell. Jerusalem is punished for their sins double and then the fullness of God’s glory comes. Now to be fair to the Christians, there are other places in the old testament where God commands repentance, but Isaiah 40 is not one of them and Matthew is clearly wrong.

The other problem with Matthew’s account of Isaiah 40, is that in Isaiah 40, God’s glory is revealed to the entire world. Jesus did not reveal God’s glory for all flesh to see it. I guess, you could argue that a few people saw his miracles and because of that, his glory was revealed to a few. However, Isaiah 40:5 says “And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.” The glory of God being revealed to all flesh is found in many places in the old testament. One Verse in Habakkuk 2:14 says “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” This describes an earth where everyone is aware of God’s glory. Christians believe God’s glory is to be revealed during the second coming of Jesus Christ, however, Matthew quotes Isaiah 40 and ascribes it to John the baptist during the first life of Jesus. Thus, clearly the old testament teaches a different Isaiah 40 than Matthew tries to claim.

I also wanted to remind the readers that Jesus himself said he would fulfill what was spoken of by the old testament prophets. In Matthew 5:17-18 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Is it my fault that the new testament writers can be proven false teachers? I like many people expect a lot from God. The old testament is the infallible and perfect Word of God, as written in the King James Bible. However, the old testament teaches a different Messiah than the new testament and it also teaches different doctrines.

Continuing in Matthew, we find more errors with his teaching. Many go to heaven in the old testament, not a few like new testament doctrine. In Mathew 7-13-14 it says “Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." There are many verses that talk about many people going to heaven in the old testament. Let’s start with the words of the most famous messianic chapter in the word of God, Isaiah 53. In verse 11 it says “...by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.” I think it is very difficult to refute this passage in Isaiah, but I will give many more examples. Let’s go to Psalms 76:9 “When God arose to judgement to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.” How many meek people are on the earth? Well, I guess that could be debated, but there are more than a few in my opinion. Let’s go to Psalms 67: 3-4 “Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let that nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously and govern the nations upon the earth.” This describes a world where entire nations find favor with God. The heart of God is for all people to praise him, not just a few Christians. Also, they find favor because of God’s heart and their works not because of faith in Christ. Another passage that talks about the meek finding favor with God and the whole earth worshiping him is Psalms 22: 26-27 “The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live forever. All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.” Another bit of knowledge I find glorious in this chapter, is that people are going to be born into a world that is already worshiping God. Check out psalms 22: 31. Also, you should have a King James bible with you as I walk you through these verses. Anyway, in psalms 22: 30-31 people are born into a world full of God’s glory. I am not an expert on the book of Revelations, but I can’t find this in there. Another verse that shows a world of many believers in God is in Psalms 71: 11” Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.” Again, all the kings and all their citizens will serve God. This makes me conclude there are a ton of people going to heaven. Perhaps, there might be more people going to heaven than to hell. There are more verses I could point to that clearly show many people go to heaven not a few. The new testament teachers are wrong in saying that only a few people go to heaven. Furthermore, the old testament teaches that people find favor with God without faith. This again is a complete contradiction to Christianity which proclaims that faith in Jesus is the only way to heaven.

Some of the verses in Matthew that contradict the old testament verses, they claim to fulfill, are difficult because the old testament verses aren’t even accurately quoted. In Matthew 8: 17 it says “That is might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, “he Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.” Now I find a lot of problems with this verse. The first is that Isaiah 53:4 says “Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried out sorrows…”  Thus, the new testament doesn't even have the same wording. Furthermore, Matthew 8:17 is referring to Jesus performing miracles whereas Isaiah 53:4 is describing the Messiah’s offering for sin. The next verse after Isaiah 53:4, is one is the most famous bible verses of all time and Isaiah 53: 5 continues the description of the Messiah’s atonement for sin. Verse 5 says “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him: and with his stripes we are healed.” Again, Matthew is wrongly applying Jesus performing miracles with a verse from Isaiah describing the Messiah’s offering for sin.

The next verse in Matthew that teaches errors is Matthew 10: 22 “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.” Now this message is consistent with all new testament teaching. However, it contradicts old testament doctrine regarding the life experience of the righteous. In proverbs 3:4 we find that “So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.” I don’t think it is possible that you can find favour with man while being hated by the same man. I would argue that favor at the very least implies that you are respected and positively esteemed by man. I think the book of Job provides a great example of a man that found favor with man. For a very short time, Job was afflicted by God, however, for the majority of his life, he was loved by man. A verse I like in Job is Jobs 8 -22 “They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame: and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.” The Christian life is the opposite of this verse. The Christians will be persecuted and their enemies will win in this life. There are many other verses in the old testament that prove the righteous man will be blessed and enjoy his life. For right now I will just briefly describe the life of the righteous by a couple verses previously mentioned. I also wanted to mention that different verses apply to different countries and generations. If you live in some cities in America you might be persecuted and miserable. If you live in another country you might be happy and prosperous. However, Christianity teaches that all real Christians will be persecuted. Old Testament teaching in this regard is different than what Christians believe.

The next verse in Matthew that I want to mention is Matthew 11: 10 “For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.” Again, like others this isn’t word for word what the old testament verse says that is being quoted. The verse in Malachi 3:1 says “Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant. Whom ye delight in: Behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. If you read this verse carefully, it says that the Lord is the messenger not John the baptist. Again, the new testament gives credit to John the baptist for a verse that is supposed to be about the Lord.

Matthew chapter 12 verses 17-21 are referring to Isaiah 42 1-5. However, verse 21 in Matthew 12 says that the Gentiles shall trust in his name. Obviously, there are millions of Christians who trust in the name of Jesus. However, in Isaiah, the writer describes a world full of god’s glory where the isles wait for his law. Furthermore, in Isaiah 42: 13 it says that “The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, year roar: he shall prevail against his enemies.” Jesus did not prevail against his enemies. On the contrary, his enemies prevailed against him.

Matthew 21:5 is supposed to fulfill Zechariah 9:9 which says “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, they King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.” Now my interpretation of that verse is the Lord will visit city to city riding in a modern day car. However, this is difficult to argue. However, what is easy to argue is that Matthew was wrong again in this instance. The next verse in Zechariah, verse number 10, describes a world in which the Lord will have dominion over the whole earth. If Jesus were God, then Zechariah should’ve said something about the Messiah being crucified and going to heaven for over 2,000 years. Furthermore, the Messiah in Zechariah will speak peace unto the heathen. Jesus did not come to preach peace, but a sword.

The main reason Jews reject Jesus is because of the idea of a second coming. In Judaism once the Messiah comes, he is there to reign forever. Now, I am not a Jew. However, I do agree with much of their teachings. The new testament accounts of the second coming of Jesus is totally different than old testament teaching on the Messiah. Isaiah 52: 13 says “Behold my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.” The Lord in the old testament is a very skilled diplomat. Also, in the psalms the Lord is a great King over all the earth. The vision of Matthew of Jesus return is very different than old testament scripture. In Matthew 24: 27 “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth unto the west; so shall also the Son of man be.”Christians and all readers should look at Isaiah chapter 2. In this chapter the Messiah has a house in the mountains and the people go up to the house to receive counsel. Furthermore, he judges the nations and establishes world peace.

The account of Judas in Matthew is another problem for the Christians. If you read Zechariah chapter 11 it has absolutely nothing to do with Judas and the 30 pieces of silver he got for betraying Jesus. Zechariah chapter 11 is about the Lord feeding the poor of his flock.

The rest of the errors in Matthew’s teaching I want to correct both come from Psalms 22. Psalms 22 is long and I have already quoted it. The main point I want to repeat is that the Messiah in this chapter becomes King of the world, soon after his cry to God, and soon after the wicked cause harm to him. Why does the author not mention Jesus going to heaven for a couple thousand years before his reign as King? Don’t you think that’s a pretty big detail to live out? Also, what about the angels? In Psalms 22 it is just him alone. While the verse in Matthew 27:35 “...they parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.” seem to fit his event on the cross, it doesn’t fit very well with the rest of the chapter. Again, I would read Psalms 22 a lot because it is a huge departure from Christian teaching. Just be honest with yourself. Do you really believe Psalms 22 was about Jesus or someone else.?The last verse that I will discuss is when Jesus cries to God why have you forsaken me? Now in Psalms 22 the writer makes this cry day and night for a long period of time. Whereas Jesus makes this plea once, at the very end of his life.
